Diesel Engine Testing of Turbulent FAD

Turbulent selected Roush Engineering and tested the FAD in its fully accredited and highly respected engine development center in United States. All testing was conducted using a standard Ford production 2.4L common rail, direct injection diesel engine. Below is a picture of the diesel engine in the Roush test cell. The FAD device can be seen in the center, by height and slightly left of center horizontally.

Over the course of several weeks, various fuel blends were successfully evaluated. Blends as low as 3% water delivered impressive emissions reductions. Fuel blends of 20% water and 80% diesel fuel resulted in ~97% reduction in soot (particulate matter). Throughout the testing the engine ran normally and maintained speed and torque. The engine utilized is a completely standard production engine with no modifications for the testing. The only changes made during the 60 tests performed at multiple speed/load points were to the ignition timing and pressure of the input fuel. The table below shows the testing detail.
